The season schedule of the Royal Opera House - Muscat includes not only "classical" western repertory but also music of traditional and modern Arabian and Omani origin.
The first season of the opera house opened with three world-famous works:
"Turandot" was the premiere production, specially commissioned for the Royal Opera House for its inaugural season, conducted by Franco Zeffirelli, with Placido Domingo and the orchestra of the Fondazione Arena di Verona. .
"Carmen" - with the stage designed by the Oscar Prize-winning set designer Gianni Quaranta.
"Swan Lake" performed by the famous Mariinsky Ballet accompanied by the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra conducted by Boris Gruzin.
Promotional video clips putting elements from these works in Omani settings were produced for Omani television and for the Internet
