After almost 18 years in the Omani navy, Nabhan al Nabhani has returned to Jabal Akhdar with an idea for a boutique hotel with a light touch that will do justice to the mountain he calls home. Luckily he managed to make is dream come true. Rather than build on the foundations of fossils, the hotel was built around them, making them the primary attraction, followed by a view that stretches across the mountains. 
The infinity swimming pool, filled to the brim, looks out over the canyon. The outer walls of the hotel are laden with local mountain stone, blending in with the landscape and making the hotel nearly invisible from a distance. The ceilings of some rooms are decorated with wooden beams imported from Zanzibar.
Nabhan and his brother Ibrahim started working on their 6,000 square metre land grant years ago. When it opened end of 2010, it boasted 28 rooms, private gardens where backyard fossils are as much an attraction as the plants.
